This concerns the cure of Mark Oakley, a Canadian cartoonist, who had suffered from the fear of vomiting for at least 15 years. A traumatic childhood episode had left him vowing to never vomit again. For 15 years, he had successfully resisted the urge to purge.
While traveling by train in England, Mark was overcome by food poisoning. He tried to sleep it off but found his nausea intruded on his slumber in a strange way. Into his dream came Dr. Who, the TV sci-fi character from the 1970s. Dr. Who got right to the point and told him this:
Mark, I'm going to tell you something important, and you have to listen. Sometimes you can't hold on to the things from when you were a young boy. Sometimes you have to allow yourself to be weak. Sometimes you just have to let yourself throw up. That time has come.
Mark awoke and quickly vomited. He no longer suffers from this fear.
Mark was surprised by Dr. Who's appearance, but afterward, he realized that the Doctor was exactly the right person to deliver the message. Mark asks who would be the right person to deliver that message to ???
